Why watch propaganda movies, study nazi films and research WWII movies about Germany and Adolf Hitler?
If there is one person in history whose activities changed the world, that person would be the German leader or Fuhrer Adolf Hitler (1889-1945) who led Nazi Germany and its allies into World War II (1939-1945), by any measure, the most devastating war in history.
The National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) or Nazi Party 1920 - 1945 and its predecessor the German Workers' Party (DAP) 1919 - 1920 were founded under the ideology of "Blut und Boden" or Blood and Soil which focused on ethnicity based on, (Blood (of a folk)) and homeland/Heimat (Soil). It celebrated the relationship of a people to the land they occupy and cultivate, and it placed a high value on the virtues of rural living.
But why watch nazi films and WW2 movies about Adolf Hitler and Third Reich Germany? You may have been asked that question, like we have, repeatedly over the years. The implication being that Hitler was so evil and caused so much trouble that there was no point in glorifying him by learning about Hitler's life. The answer is Adolf Hitler is someone we recognize, someone whose contributions — for better or for worse — have had a significant effect on our culture and the world and as members of that global community we should know something about the man, the world Adolf Hitler lived in, and the events that shaped his thinking.

German government assaults FREE SPEECH world wide!
There is an air of urgency to obtaining your nazi movie collections. The German government in a classic Orwellian 1984 memory hole move is trying to stop the distribution of Third Reich films worldwide including the USA under the Uruguay Round Table agreements. This is a quote from one of their anti-American documents "...the responsible handling of nazi film heritage is very important. This is why we only make available such national socialist propaganda films to non-commercial sector and only under certain circumstances and conditions." We do not know how long into the future these nazi films, German newsreels, Third Reich propaganda films, and Hitler movies will be available for sale! It is for this reason that we strongly urge everyone to add to their historical nazi movie and nazi film collections ASAP before this FREEDOM OF SPEECH is taken away!

It is impossible, at least for this reviewer, to sum up in a few paragraphs the nearly four hours of German newsreels contained on two disks in the second volume of "Through Enemy Eyes". The task is especially daunting, because the four months of 1940 documented here represent some of the most momentous events of the Second World War: invasion of the Netherlands and Norway, the fall of France, and beginning of the Battle of Britain. These campaigns have been abundantly documented elsewhere for more than sixty years, but never as graphically, nor as dramatically as in these filmed reports.
Of particular interest is the Luftwaffe attack at Namsos, where the Norwegian struggle was decided when British ships were decimated via the pinpoint accuracy displayed by Stuka dive-bomber and a new medium bomber that made its debut in Norway, the Ju-88. Outstanding, too, is coverage of Fortress Holland's main defense at Eben Emael, where a handful of daring paratroopers overpowered the world's foremost military installation. Scenes of the once powerful tank corps fielded by France demonstrate the Germans' irresistible combination of land and air forces that absoutely obliterated Allied armor.
The newsreels contrast the multi-racial French Army with the all-Aryan Wehrmacht as an indication of the former's swift defeat. Hitler's victory in the West sparked the zenith of his popularity at home, and nowhere is it better portrayed than in the outpouring of rapturous support shown by the vast crowds that greeted him in Berlin after his return from the surrender of France.
Volume Two's final newsreel is a paean of sorts to the Luftwaffe, where virtually every aircraft type in service at the time is showcased, however fleetingly. Especially interesting for modelers and historians are close-ups of rare birds, such as the Heinkel-115 seaplane and diesel-powered Junkers-86.
The imagery is as rich as it is fast and furious, so much so, owners of Volume Two will re-run it time and again for its wealth of historical details.
Reviewer’s note: While purchasing all fourteen volumes of “Through Enemy Eyes” may be too sizeable an investment for most students of World War Two, they will find nowhere else --- in either the written or spoken word --- original source material that will provide them with a broader, more profound understanding of and appreciation for that seminal conflict. To watch it every day, from first to last newsreel, is a life-changing experience, comparable to seeing and hearing Wagner’s Ring Cycle.
Whatever viewers bring with them to this collection will be expanded a thousandfold. In short, the “Through Enemy Eyes” series is by far the most important, single document to have emerged from the Second World War, bar none.
